If Not with Me, Then with Someone Else

A poem from the self-published book, A Beautiful Disaster.

Share your soul,

the darkest part of you,

the secrets you’ve hidden in a riddle,

that small box inside you that screams fragile,

if not with me, then with someone else

Give your entangled heart,

that part of you that seeks to be held,

speak what you have concealed,

dig out feelings that have been locked in an enchanted chest,

if not with me, then with someone else

reveal yourself from that shadow,

allow yourself to be explored,

to be unclothed down to your core

to run through your darkness naked,

release the agonizing memories

for your rawness is beauty,

extract the traps for the one that seeks to know you,

if not with me, then with someone else
