BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I threw myself off my bed and turned off my alarm clock. I had very little time to get ready. Doors slammed, stairs thumped, and floors creaked, as I jolted up to my Dad.
“Dad! Wake up, we have to go!” I yelled to my dad across the room.
However, it was as if on cue, by the time I finished my sentence he was gone in a blink of an eye, he immediately woke up, got ready, and both of us departed away from our house. All that was left of us was the sound of engines echoing through the empty neighborhood heading towards an airport roaring at the rising sun, awakening from its slumber.
My Dad and I were very excited for the journey we were about to experience. My Uncle had proposed to me a plane ride to Pennsylvania as a birthday gift. I had been waiting for this moment forever and today was the day I would leave the ground and soar like an eagle knowing it has many places to go. When I arrived at the airport I found myself saying aloud, “Wow, this is no ordinary airport.” Buildings the size of garages, planes the size of cars, and roads as small as sidewalks. When I met up with my Uncle I asked him where all the big planes and big buildings were, I had expected a lot more than this. He told me I had it wrong and that we were going on his small plane. Nonetheless, I knew I was going to have a blast!
When everything was sorted out, we finally got to the plane. I must have made a world record of daydreaming because I found myself thinking of all the wonders I would see above Pennsylvania and before I knew it all I saw was a blue ocean above me with cotton balls floating below it, as I looked down I saw lego bricks and small flowers. It didn’t take me long to realize I was on my way to Pennsylvania.
“Are we still in New Jersey?” I asked my Uncle. When he replied I must have ignored him because I was too distracted by the sights I was seeing. Fields and fields of crops surrounding huge farms, every once in a while circles and circles of houses would appear along with huge black trees bundled together in one spot making one big forest. However, I was told that we were making a turn and going back to New Jersey and a glowing light appeared inside my head, “We’re in Pennsylvania?!” They simply laughed at the fact that I had just realized we were in Pennsylvania.
On our way home I thought to myself of what a great experience I had today. Of course I had no one to talk to because before I knew it darkness filled my eyesight and it was as if my eyes were battling trying to keep me from sleeping. However, the other side was victorious and I dreamed of the sights I had seen below me, how the plane moved like a fish in the water moving swiftly like it knows where it is going and doesn’t need to stop for a split second. When I woke up in my car just stopping at my home I wished that I could do that again. Then it occured to me that birthdays last for as long as you live and that this was just the beginning of my adventure.
